SFEDI aims to support Apprenticemakers uptake with it’s new Champion Training

This month, SFEDI run activity, Apprenticemakers, has been fine tuning its new Apprenticeships Champion Training, which was piloted with two cohorts of business support professionals in December.

Certificated by the IOEE, the one day course is designed to support people that have an active role in promoting the benefits of apprenticeships to small and medium sized businesses with the skills, knowledge and recognition which could increase the impact of their role.

The course covers the skills and behaviours of an effective champion, how apprenticeships work for businesses and the upcoming changes, how the benefits of apprenticeships can be communicated to different audiences, and how to develop a CPD and action plan to support an Apprenticeships Champion role.

The course was very well received with all delegates reporting that they are likely to pursue more discussions with small and medium sized businesses around apprenticeships as a result of the course, and all also feeling that those businesses would be more likely to benefit from talking to an Apprenticeships Champion.

Apprenticemakers is running more of these programmes in the coming months, and has widened its course offering to include Apprenticeships Champion Training for Apprentices, Mentoring Apprentices in the Workplace, and Understanding Apprenticeships for those new to apprenticeships.
