Dr Richard Beresford passed away suddenly on 3 May 2016.
Richard, a SFEDI/IOEE Advisory Council member, was due to step into the role of Chair of Enterprise Educators UK this September and will be sorely missed by the enterprise community.
Leigh Sear, Chief Executive of SFEDI Solutions, worked closely with Richard. He said:
“I first met Richard when he was working at the Enterprise Centre at Oxford Brookes University and I was at Durham Business School. What struck me about Richard was his enthusiasm to develop an enterprising approach in others and his willingness to challenge the status quo around how to research and support enterprise development. We shared somewhat similar views on enterprise education, which resulted in us working together in different ways over the last 15 years. Whenever we worked together Richard would challenge my thinking and provide really useful advice and guidance on different ways of looking at things.”
“Richard was a good friend as well as a work colleague. I think we spent more time talking football (we shared a passion for supporting lower league football teams), cricket (he was an ardent fan of Yorkshire) and 80s music than we did work!”
“Richard was one of life’s truly genuine people. His passion and enthusiasm for supporting enterprise in others will be truly missed.”
The EEUK Board meets in June and will be considering an appropriate form of remembrance.
