Be Inspired By Our Feel Good Enterprise Resolutions For 2015

Start the New Year with the feel good factor and get yourself some enterprise themed New Years resolutions for 2015.

As small businesses it's easy to spend the whole year cocooned in our own worlds of servicing clients, finding new ones, and keeping the operation running smoothly.

To help create a 2015 to remember, we've come up with some enterprise themed New Year's resolutions that could give your business the feel good factor in 2015.

  1. Enter some awards - If you've spotted awards in recent years and thought your business is just as deserving, make this the year you get involved. Whether it's awards for your sector, region, business size or clients, get entering or ask a business contact to nominate you to reap the rewards of raised profile, a boost to team morale, and a trophy for the cabinet.
  2. Cycle to work or something equally energetic -Whatever floats your boat in the exercise department why not try and build it into your working day to see if the endorphin kick has an impact on your work outlook too. A cycle or even run commute can set you up for the day, and a swim at lunchtime gives you time to lose the stresses of the morning and plan your afternoon. There are cycle to work schemes to help you buy a bike too.
  3. Do some mentoring - If you haven't already, join the ranks of people bringing mentoring into their everyday lives. Whether you want to mentor another business, or get involved in projects supporting young people such as Every Child Needs a Mentor, with just a small amount of your time you can discover the sense of fulfillment mentoring can bring. Check out ways to get into enterprise mentoring here at Mentorsme and keep an eye out for our 2015 programme of Meet A Mentor events.
  4. Reconnect with your peers - If you've run a business for years the days of intense networking might be behind you, but that's no reason not to get involved in something new in an area that interests you. Connect with organisations interested in creating change in a particular area, such as Apprenticemakers which is championing Apprenticeships for small businesses, or broaden your network by attending an exhibition you've always meant to go to but never found the time just to see what other opportunities might be out there.
  5. Back a campaign - This year choose an activity happening locally or across the UK and get involved, whether it's Small Business Saturday, Global Enterprise WeekNational Apprenticeship Week, or something closer to your heart. Get involved by publishing logos on your website, coming up with a couple of ideas of related activities for your business like a special offer or open day, writing a blog or press release, and doing a few tweets.
  6. Learn something new - In 2015 plan to learn those skills that you've always wanted to. There is an array of enterprise learning available from SFEDI Awards centres across the UK that will develop your business skills, but there are probably many other skills you've always wanted to master that will get your creative juices flowing, an essential ingredient for maintaining your entrepreneurial flair.
  7. Get the wanderlust - All too often it's easy for us to be UK centric, or even region centric. In 2015 visit another region or country and see how they're doing things there. Learn from similar businesses elsewhere in the world to bring that learning back to your business, or to find out if your business is perfectly set to fulfil a gap in the market. You may even be able to access some support towards your trip.
  8. Reconnect with your community - Connecting more with your local community is a great way to boost team morale, attract good staff and send good vibes about your business to your customer base. Whether you sponsor the under 8s rugby team or you enter a staff team in local fun run, there's loads of great ways to get involved. There's always the little ways to let your community know you care too, check out this sign welcoming breastfeeding mums to their cafe. Make 2015 be the year that your business is recognised as one which backs its community.
