This month the IOEE were honoured to accept an invitation to visit the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Kuala Lumpur to discuss and share best practice around the theme of enterprise and entrepreneurship education. Ruth Lowbridge, Executive Chair of SFEDI Group, and Nathan Hardwick, Executive Chair of the IOEE, (pictured left with the Limkokwing University team), met with staff and students to gain an understanding of entrepreneurial developments in the growing economies of Asia and Africa. They were also there to share ideas from the research and work the IOEE has undertaken over the last few years in developing new approaches to enterprise support and education.
During the visit, Ruth and Nathan also met with the University’s founder, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, known across Malaysia as the Father of Innovation, to trade views on the future of enterprise at an international level. Given the global presence of the University, which has 13 campuses in both Asia and Africa, the IOEE representatives were keen to get a flavour of how our work might add value to emerging and developing economies.
The visit was part of the IOEE’s remit to support, promote and encourage the practice of entrepreneurship in the UK and beyond. Nathan Hardwick said, "We feel very proud to have made a connection with such an inspiring University. It's been a huge privilege to get such an insight into the University's work in the field of enterprise and the trip has given us much to think about in terms of our enterprise work both nationally and internationally".
